“Our bodies work around held experiences until the load becomes too great. That’s when we develop symptoms” Bessel van der Kolk
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on treatment that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and rebalance itself. It works with the subtle rhythms and movements of the craniosacral system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and the surrounding membranes and fluid.
Using light, non-invasive touch, we listen to the body’s natural flow and respond to areas of tension, restriction, or imbalance. These may be held physically, emotionally, or energetically within the tissues, often as a result of stress, trauma, or unresolved experiences.
By helping the nervous system settle and encouraging deep relaxation, Craniosacral Therapy creates the conditions for healing to occur. Clients often experience a sense of spaciousness, calm, and clarity, as well as relief from pain, anxiety, and long-held patterns of tension.
At its heart, Craniosacral Therapy is about listening, respectfully, to the body’s story. In doing so, it invites it to remember its inherent wisdom and return to balance, resilience, and wholeness.
This therapy is suitable for people of all ages, from newborn babies to the elderly. Clients often turn to CST for the following:
What to expect from your Craniosacral Therapy Session
“Within the quiet of the craniosacral rhythm lies the story of the body and its path to release.”
Craniosacral Therapy sessions are quiet, restful, and tailored to your unique needs. They begin with a short conversation to explore what’s bringing you in. This might be physical discomfort, emotional stress, or simply a desire to reconnect with yourself.
You’ll then lie fully clothed on a treatment table while I use light touch to listen to the subtle rhythms and patterns within your body. There is no manipulation, just gentle, contact, often at the head, spine, or sacrum.
During the session, you may feel warmth, stillness, tingling, or emotional release. Many people drop into a state of deep relaxation, like a waking dream, as the body begins to unwind and let go.
Each session supports your nervous system in settling, your body in rebalancing, and your mind in finding clarity and calm. Afterwards, you may feel lighter, clearer, more spacious or simply more at home in yourself.
Craniosacral work is subtle, but its effects can be profound, rippling out gently over days or weeks to support your body’s own healing wisdom.

Pre and Postnatal Craniosacral Therapy
“As your body makes space for new life, this work gently makes space for you.”
Pregnancy, birth, and the early days of motherhood are profound transitions. They touch not only the body but the emotions, energy, and spirit. Craniosacral Therapy offers deeply nurturing support through each phase, helping both mother and baby find balance, calm, and connection.
Postnatal Craniosacral Therapy
“Postnatal healing is a reweaving: of tissues, emotions, and identity. This work honours all of it.”
The postnatal period is a time of profound change, often filled with emotion, exhaustion, and physical recovery. Craniosacral Therapy offers a space to be held and supported, helping to ease tension in the body, soothe the nervous system, and support emotional processing after the birth experience.
It may help with:
Physical recovery from birth (including C-section or assisted birth)
Emotional overwhelm, sadness, or anxiety
Hormonal rebalancing
Back, neck, or pelvic discomfort
Reconnection to self after birth
This gentle touch supports the mother not just physically, but emotionally and energetically, offering space to slow down, rest, and be restored.

Craniosacral Therapy for Pregnancy
“In stillness, both mother and baby find space to breathe, to soften, to connect.”
Pregnancy is a time of profound transformation. As your baby grows, your organs and structures shift to accommodate them. Craniosacral Therapy helps keep your system fluid and balanced, reducing discomfort and creating more spaciousness, physically and energetically, for you and your baby. It gently works with the nervous system, bones, and tissues to ease tension, balance the pelvis, calm the mind, and connect you more deeply with your baby.
It can support you with:
Pelvic, hip, or back discomfort
Sciatica or postural strain
Fatigue, overwhelm, or anxiety
Poor sleep or restlessness
Emotional sensitivity or fear around birth
Deepening the mother–baby connection
Sessions are calming, safe, and deeply restorative. Many women find them to be a rare moment of stillness in which to pause, breathe, and return to themselves.
Whether you are early in your pregnancy or preparing for birth, Craniosacral Therapy can be a supportive companion, helping you feel more grounded, empowered, and connected on every level.
Craniosacral Therapy for Babies
“Every newborn baby carries the story of their arrival. In gentle hands, those stories can be softened and released.”
Even in optimal circumstances, birth can be physically demanding. Births which are prolonged or very rapid, assisted deliveries (e.g., forceps or ventouse), or caesarean sections, can create subtle tensions in a baby’s tissues and nervous system. These tensions may influence a newborn baby’s comfort, sleep, digestion, and ability to settle.
CST facilitates and supports the release of restrictions in the infant's cranial bones, spine, and surrounding tissues. This can help regulate the baby’s nervous system, support feeding and bonding, and promote deep relaxation and comfort.
Sessions are baby-led and take place in a peaceful, unhurried environment. Parents or carers are always present, and babies are held with complete respect for their pace, signals, and needs. In this way the sessions therefore create space for baby to feel safe, heard, and welcomed, and for parents to feel empowered and supported.
CST can offer support for:
Breastfeeding or latch challenges
Colic, wind, or digestive issues
Sleep difficulties
Head turning preference or flattening (plagiocephaly)
Unexplained crying or restlessness
Recovery after birth interventions (ventouse, forceps, C-section)
Nervous system regulation and emotional bonding

Craniosacral Therapy for Toddlers
“Every toddler holds a world inside them. Let’s offer a quiet invitation to feel balanced in that world.”
Toddlers are full of movement, curiosity, and rapid development, physically, emotionally, and neurologically. This stage of early childhood can also be a time of big feelings, growing pains, and transitions. Craniosacral Therapy helps to calm the nervous system, release tension held in the body, and support overall balance and wellbeing.
By tuning into the natural rhythms and needs of your child’s body, they can be helped to feel more at ease, regulated, and connected to themselves and the world around them. Sometimes the shifts are subtle, deeper sleep, fewer tantrums, more ease in the body. Other times, changes are more immediately noticeable. Either way, the intention is always to support your toddler’s development with gentleness, care, and foster resilience and trust that can carry through into their next stage of growth.
It can support toddlers experiencing:
Difficulty settling, sleep disturbances, or restlessness
Tantrums or emotional overwhelm
Tension from falls or physical bumps
Sensory sensitivity or developmental delays
Digestive discomfort or immune challenges
Transitions such as starting nursery or weaning
What to expect in a session:
“Toddlers speak a language of movement, sensation, and emotion. Craniosacral Therapy responds in kind.”
Every toddler is unique and so is every Craniosacral Therapy session. Sessions are led by your toddler’s comfort, curiosity, and capacity to engage, always unfolding at their pace. There is no expectation for them to lie still. We may sit together with you and play on the floor, or I may gently offer touch while they explore or rest in your arms. We may even pause for a snack!
Sometimes even the slightest contact and engagement can have far reaching effects. The therapy continues to work beyond the session, helping the body and nervous system integrate changes naturally in the hours and days afterward.
Equine Craniosacral Therapy
“To listen to a horse’s body is to hear the whisper of a soul that speaks in stillness.”
Horses, like humans, hold stories in their bodies; reflections of their experiences, environment, and relationships. These stories often show up as tension, reactivity, or changes in behaviour. As prey animals, horses are highly sensitive to their surroundings. They rely on the limbic brain, the emotional centre, to assess safety and respond quickly to threat. When the body perceives stress, it activates the fight-or-flight response, which is essential for survival but can become overactive or stuck, especially after trauma, injury, or ongoing tension.
Over time, this can lead to:
Chronic tension or movement restrictions
Hypervigilance, spookiness, or shut-down behaviour
Difficulty settling, connecting, or learning
Sensitivity to touch, tack, or certain environments
Physical issues that don't fully resolve with traditional treatment
Equine Craniosacral Therapy works gently to support the regulation of the nervous system. It helps the horse release stored trauma and invites the horse back into a state of safety and ease.
Horses often respond visibly during sessions, with yawns, blinking, softening of the eyes, licking and chewing, or deep, grounding breaths. Each session is led by the horse, at their pace, with full respect for their sensitivity and autonomy.
Whether your horse is healing from physical injury, emotional stress, or simply needs support in settling and grounding, Equine Craniosacral Therapy offers a profound yet gentle way to help restore natural balance to their body and mind.
Supervision for Craniosacral Therapists
“The tide moves in all things, including our practice. Supervision helps us listen to where we are within the tide.”
As a registered supervisor with the Craniosacral Therapy Association (CSTA), I offer a safe, reflective, and supportive space for both newly qualified and experienced practitioners.
Supervision is a vital part of Craniosacral Therapy practice. It provides a safe container to explore our work, deepen clinical insight, and support professional and personal growth. Whether you're navigating the complexities of a client case, tending to your own responses as a therapist, or needing space to reconnect with the heart of your practice, supervision offers a grounded place to do so.
My approach draws on over 35 years of clinical experience in complementary health, including 27 years as a Craniosacral Therapist. I also draw on my experience in the foundations of psychotherapy and counselling and energy medicine, offering a broad, intuitive perspective that honours both the subtlety of the craniosacral field and the therapeutic relationship.
Supervision sessions are collaborative, confidential, and nourishing. I offer a space to reflect, restore, and be resourced, enabling therapists to show up for clients and for themselves with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
